Far from home

Aaaaaand here's the colored version! Watercolors straight into my sketchbook. I like it as a quick, nice-looking way to color my sketches. There are mistakes, because I'm not always as careful when I paint as I should be, but I'm okay with that. I'll not be selling it, and you get the general idea.

Visually and design-wise, Naiyo is my favorite character. I can't remember how exactly I came upon the idea for his culture, but I'm glad I did. I like the idea of cultural diversity in my story (even though he's the ONLY one that's really culturally diverse. Vampires don't count) and he just looks so different than all the rest. Especially in his merman form, which I think throws together so many aspects you don't expect. Male merpeople are rarely highlighted and I've never seen one with this particular take on it, and certainly not one who had anything less than perfectly sculpted abs. *shrug* I dunno, maybe he's not as awesome as I think he is, but I think he's awesome.
